Mitchelton Scott team professional Jack Bauer has been added to the Vantage New Zealand elite team for the UCI Road World Championships starting in Yorkshire, England this weekend.
Bauer will replace fellow World Tour rider Tom Scully (EF Education First) in the team for the road race on Sunday September 29.
Scully, originally selected for both the individual time trial and road race, has withdrawn after reporting that he has not recovered sufficiently from the Tour de France to be competitive in Yorkshire.
Bauer has been one of New Zealand’s best performed riders, and will ride in support of George Bennett for the road race on the last day of the championships.
The championships for the Vantage New Zealand team begin with the junior individual time trials on Monday involving Logan Currie, Finn Fisher-Black, Reuben Thompson and Ella Wyllie.

Male, Elite: George Bennett (road race), Patrick Bevin (time trial, road race), Jack Bauer (Road race), Dion Smith (road race). Under-23: Ethan Batt (road race), James Fouche (road race, time trial), Paul Wright (road race).
Under-19: Drew Christensen (road race), Logan Currie (Road race, time trial), Finn Fisher-Black (road race, time trial), Ari Scott (road race), Reuben Thompson (road race, time trial).
Female, Elite: Ella Harris (road race), Mikayla Harvey (road race, time trial), Georgia Williams (road race, time trial).
Under-19: Stella Nightingale (road race), Ella Wyllie (road race, time trial).
