Cycling New Zealand has confirmed that the Elite Road Cycling Championships will return to Timaru next year.
After successfully staging this year’s premier championships, the Cycling South Canterbury Club will again host the championships, to be staged on 6 to 8 February 2025.
While the club officials are still finalising aspects of the event including courses, it is proposed the racing will be on similar roads to those that provided such a stern and exciting test this year.
It will be the fifth time the elite road championships have been staged in South Canterbury with the club looking forward to staging the event again.
“Cycling South Canterbury is excited to partner with Cycling New Zealand to host the Elite Road Nationals in Timaru in 2025,” said club president Richard Quested.
“The success of this year's event, with the challenging courses and the high calibre of riders who participated, was fantastic for cycling enthusiasts and our local community.”
Cycling New Zealand is delighted to return to the region for its premier road cycling event.
“South Canterbury has been a cycling stronghold for our sport and the club did an outstanding job in hosting the event this year. We look forward to our elite riders and emerging talent combining in a successful 2025 event, alongside our experienced and passionate event partners,” said Cycling New Zealand CEO, Simon Peterson.
