Paris Olympic medallists Bryony Botha and Ally Wollaston have returned to Europe for the UCI Track Cycling World Championships in Denmark starting tomorrow.

Botha and Wollaston are the sole kiwis competing, after most of the Paris squad opted for longer post-competition breaks, or a return to their professional road teams.

The pair featured as part of the women’s team pursuit that won a silver medals at the Glasgow Super Worlds last year, and the Paris Olympic Games.

While the pair teamed up to finish seventh in the Madison at the 2023 world championships, the two-rider race falls on the same day as the individual pursuit, which is Botha’s main target. The 26-year-old won the silver medal in the discipline at the world championships in 2022 and was third at Glasgow last year, as well as smashing the Commonwealth record in winning gold in the IP in 3:18.456 at the Birmingham Games in 2022.

Wollaston has a busy schedule at the Ballerup Super Arena, contesting the scratch race on opening day, the elimination, the omnium, and the points races.

The AG Soudal professional, who moves to the WorldTour team FDJ Suez next year, won the bronze medal in the four-discipline omnium at the Paris Olympic Games.

The five-day competition begins on Wednesday (Denmark time).
