Cycling New Zealand is pleased to announce Torpedo7 as the naming sponsor for the Mountain Bike (MTB) National Championships for the next two years.
This includes the 2021 Torpedo7 Mountain Bike National Championships in Christchurch on 27-28 February.
As the country’s leading provider of outdoor adventure gear, Torpedo7 offers a wide range of quality bikes and bike gear, as well as a dedicated in-store bike shop.
Torpedo7 CEO, Simon West says supporting the event was a natural fit for the brand.
“We’re thrilled to get behind the MTB National Championship for the next two years and encourage more Kiwis to give mountain biking a go.
“New Zealand is fortunate to have some epic mountain biking trails in picturesque settings right on our doorstep, and it’s great to see the sport continue to grow in popularity every year.
“Through our partnership with Cycling New Zealand, we look forward to connecting with like-minded bike enthusiasts across the country and helping to equip them with everything they need for their adventures outdoors.”
Cycling New Zealand’s CEO Jacques Landry acknowledges the important role of sponsors for MTB and all cycling events.
“Having the support of well-known organisations such as Torpedo7 provides the opportunity to promote and grow awareness of mountain biking. It will encourage the competition pathway and benefits people gain from involvement in the sport.
“We want to provide event opportunities that encourage as many people to give MTB a go. It’s a great sport that people can participate in throughout life.
“Torpedo7 is already synonymous with cycling and to have them as the naming sponsor across the MTB National Championships will assist Cycling New Zealand and Mountain Bike New Zealand to continue the great work already in place to support and grow mountain biking popularity.”
The 2021 Torpedo7 MTB National Championship will be held in Christchurch on 27-28 February. The cross-country titles will be decided at Crocodile Mountain Bike Park at Kennedy’s Bush, Halswell, staged in conjunction with Christchurch Singletrack Club on Saturday 27 February with the downhill championships at nearby Christchurch Adventure Park on Sunday 28 February with support from Gravity Canterbury club.
