New Zealand rider Ally Wollaston claimed her second victory in a sprint finish on the final stage of the Tour of Catalunya on the streets of Barcelona today.

Riding for her Women’s World Tour team, AG Insurance- Soudal, Wollaston again edged out a strong field headed by overall winner and multi-world champion, Marianne Vos.

The sprint finish victory, like her triumph in the opening stage three days ago, earned Wollaston the sprinter’s green jersey by a single point from Vos who won the overall honours.

Wollaston’s teammates Justine Ghekiere and Mireia Benito were first and second respectively in the mountain jersey race and the team was second overall behind Team Visma.

The 87km final stage traversed some challenging climbs of the Alt des Casots and Alt de Begues before the run into Barcelona where Wollaston prevailed in the sprint finish, with fellow New Zealand rider, Michaela Drummond seventh in the sprint for her Arkea-B&B Hotels team.

“We walk away with the queen of the mountains jersey, the Catalan jersey, the points jersey, and two stage wins. Plus, Kim (Pienaar) finished fourth in the general classification. It's been an amazing weekend for the team, and I'm really proud to be a part of it.”

“The last kilometres were always going to be quite hectic going into the finish today. The team stayed calm, moved up when needed, and Kim found a gap that didn't really exist in the last 500 meters, setting me up perfectly for the sprint. We had a plan, we stuck to it.”
